§898. The general principles modified in actions concerning real estate. We have now discussed the principles laid down by the courts with regard to the measure of damages in all ordinary cases of contract and tort (not turning upon the interpretation of statutes), except those relating to land. These we have reserved for consideration here, inasmuch as the rules applicable to them are frequently of a more arbitrary character than those which lie at the foundation of personal actions.
