Louder than a thousand thunders,
Shakes the vast creation round:
How the summons

Will the sinner's heart confound!

2 See the Judge, our nature wearing, Clothed in majesty divine!

Ye who long for his appearing,

Then shall say, "This God is mine!"
Gracious Saviour!

Own me in that day for thine.

3 Under sorrows and reproaches,
May this thought our courage raise!
Swiftly God's great day approaches-
Sighs shall then be changed to praise :
We shall triumph

When the world is in a blaze.

116. THE RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS. C. M.

St. Nicholas—Belgrave—Bremen-University. 1 Lo! what a glorious sight appears To our admiring eyes!

The former seas have passed away,
The former earth and skies.

2 From heav'n the New Jerus'lem comes, All worthy of its Lord:

See all things now at last renewed,
And paradise restored!

3 Attending angels shout for joy,
And the bright armies sing;
Mortals! behold the sacred seat
Of your descending King!

4 The God of glory down to men
Removes his blessed abode;

He dwells with men; his people they,
And he his people's God.

5 His gracious hand shall wipe the tears From every weeping eye:

And pains and groans, and griefs and fears,
And death itself, shall die.

6 Behold, I change all human things!
Saith he, whose words are true;
Lo! what was old is passed away,
And all things are made new!

7 O may we stand before the Lamb,
When earth and seas are fled,

And hear the Judge pronounce our name, With blessings on our head!

CHARACTER AND TITLES OF CHRIST. C. M. Newington-Dunfermline-Burton-Loughton. 1 We bless the Prophet of the Lord,

Who comes with truth and grace: Jesus, thy Spirit and thy Word Shall lead us in thy ways.

2 We rev'rence our High Priest above,
Who shed his precious blood;
And lives to show his constant love,
By pleading with our God.

3 We honour our exalted King;
How sweet are his commands!
He guards our souls from hell and sin,
By his almighty hands.

4 He is our Prophet, us to guide;
Our High Priest, to atone;
Our King to rule, and to provide,
And bring us to his throne.
5 Hosanna to his glorious name!
Wondrous are all his ways;
His mercy gives a rightful claim
To our unceasing praise.

118.

CHRIST A PROPHET.

Doversdale-New Sabbath-Mainzer.

L. M.

1. How sweetly flowed the gospel's sound From lips of gentleness and grace, When listening thousands gathered round, And joy and reverence filled the place! 2 From heaven he came, of heaven he spoke, To heaven he led his followers' way; Dark clouds of gloomy night he broke, Unveiling an immortal day.

3 Come, wanderers, to my Father's home,
Come, all ye weary ones, and rest ;—
Yes! gracious Saviour, we will come,
Obey thee, love thee, and be blest.
4 Decay, these tenements of dust;
Pillars of earthly pride, decay!
A nobler mansion waits the just,
And Jesus has prepared the way.

119.

CHRIST A PRIEST.
Harrington-New York-Harlow.

1 Thou dear Redeemer, dying Lamb,
We love to hear of thee;

No music's like thy charming name,
Nor half so sweet can be.

2 O may we ever hear thy voice
In mercy to us speak;

And in our Priest will we rejoice,
Thou great Melchisedec.

3 Jesus shall still be all our theme,
While in this world we stay;
We'll sing our Saviour's lovely name,
When all things else decay.

4 When we appear in yonder cloud,
With all his favoured throng,

C. M.

Then will we sing more sweet, more loud, And Christ shall be our song.

120.

CHRIST A KING.

Miles' Lane.

1 All hail the power of Jesus' name! Let angels prostrate fall.

Bring forth the royal diadem,

And crown him Lord of all.

2 Crown him, ye martyrs of your God,
Who from his altar call:
Extol the stem of Jesse's rod,
And crown him Lord of all.

3 Ye saints redeemed of Adam's race,
Ye ransomed from the fall;

C. M.

Hail him who saves you by his grace,
And crown him Lord of all.

4 Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget
The wormwood and the gall,
Go spread your trophies at his feet,
And crown him Lord of all.

5 Let every kindred, every tribe
On this terrestrial ball,

To him all majesty ascribe,

And crown him Lord of all.

60 that with yonder sacred throng, We at his feet may fall,

Join in the everlasting song,

And crown him Lord of all!
