Senate Chamber, Lansing, Monday, February 9, 1925.

2:00 o'clock p. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by Senator Augustus H. Gansser, who had been designated by the President as presiding officer for this day.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

Present: Senators Gansser, Greene, Herrick, Leland, Martin, Wilcox and
Woodruff-7; not a quorum.

Mr. Martin moved that the Senate adjourn.
The motion prevailed.

The President declared the Senate adjourned until Tuesday, February 10, at 2:00 o'clock p. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the President.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

Absent without leave: Senators Bahorski, Cummings and Hunter --3.

Mr. Gansser moved that the absentees without leave be excused from today's session.

The motion prevailed.

Petition No. 61. By Mr. Truettner. Petition of the Sportsman Conservation Club of the Crystal Falls District to change the deer season.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Conservation.

Petition No. 62. By Mr. Herrick. Petition of the Clarksville Game and Fish Protective Association regarding Conservation Laws.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Conservation.

Petition No. 63. By Mr. Herrick. Petition of the Lakeview Credit Bureau opposing Senate Bill No. 25, amending the Garnishee Law.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Petition No. 64. By Mr. Bohn. Petition of the Kiwanis Club of Saulte Ste. Marie praying for Legislation regarding Forestry and Conservation. The petition was referred to the Committee on Conservation.

Petition No. 65. By Mr. Quinlan. Petition of Kent County Farm Bureau opposing so-called child labor amendment.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Labor.

Petition No. 66. By Mr. Quinlan. Petition of Kent County Farm Bureau, favoring an amendment to the Constitution, basing the reapportionment on citizenship instead of population.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Apportionment.

Petition No. 67. By Mr. Quinlan. Petition of Kent County Farm Bureau opposing any change in the present method of taking school census. The petition was referred to the Committee on Education.

Petition No. 68. By Mr. Quinlan. Petition of Kent County Farm Bureau favoring that the State Board of Equalization consist of one member from each Representative District instead of the present system.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Taxation.

Petition No. 69. By Mr. Quinlan. Petition of Kent County Farm Bureau favoring the election of County School Commissioner by the townships, instead of by the county at large, as under the present law.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Education.

A bill to make appropriations for the Michigan Naval Militia for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1926, and June 30, 1927, for maintenance and operation. Senate bill No. 47 (file No. 34), entitled

A bill to make appropriations for the Military Establishment for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1926, and June 30, 1927, for maintenance and operation. Senate bill No. 73 (file No. 35), entitled

A bill to advance the science of jurisprudence, to promote reform in the law, to facilitate and improve the administration of justice, to uphold the integrity, honor and courtesy of the members of the legal profession, and to provide for the government of the Michigan State Bar.

Senate bill No. 74 (file No. 36), entitled

A bill to amend section 67 of Act No. 84 of the Public Acts of 1909, entitled "An act to increase the efficiency of the military establishment of the State of Michigan, to make an appropriation therefor, and to repeal all former acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act," being section 942 of the Compiled Laws of 1915, as amended by Act No. 291 of the Public Acts of 1921.

The Secreatry also announced the printing of the following entitled bills and that the said printed bills were placed on file in the Document Room of the Senate January 30, 1925.

Senate bill No. 75 (file No. 37), entitled

A bill to amend sections 2 and 6 of Act No. 81 of the Public Acts of 1903. entitled "An act to provide for the care and preservation of cemetery lots," being sections 2398 and 2402 of the Compiled Laws of 1915.

Senate bill No. 76 (file No. 38), entitled

A bill to amend section 4 of Act No. 279 of the Public Acts of 1909, entitled "An act to provide for the incorporation of cities and for revising and amending their charters," being section 3307 of the Compiled Laws of 1915, as last amended by Act No. 119 of the Public Acts of 1923, and to repeal subdivision (z) of said section.
