MORNING:

My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.”—Job xxvii. 6.

Happy the meek, whose gentle breast,
Clear as the summer's evening ray,
Calm as the regions of the blest,
Enjoys on earth celestial day.

NOON :

"Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus."-Heb. xii. 1, 2.

Looking off unto Jesus,

My spirit is blest;

In the world I have turmoil,
In Him I have rest.

EVENING:

Have I been sprinkled from an evil conscience? (Heb. x. 22.)

Here at Thy cross I still would wait,

Nor from its shelter flee,

Till Thou, O God, in mercy great,
Art merciful to me.

MORNING

"I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin."-Psa. xxxviii. 18. Lord, my heart is bare before Thee, Let me now Thy mercy prove: for my wants implore Thee; Love me with a Father's love.

Help me,

NOON :

"The chastisement of our

upon Him.”—Isa. liii. 5.

peace was

Before the cross of Him who died,
Behold I prostrate fall:

Let every sin be crucified,

And Christ be all in all.

EVENING:

:

Have I truly repented of sin?—

(Zech. xii. 10.)

Mourning, I see my lost estate;
Yet dare in faith to cry,

Oh! let my evil nature die,
Another heart in me create.

[blocks in formation]

"I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him."-Mic. vii. 9.

Why is it thus? why hope we yet
To outlive each blast of ill?
One-One-for us the storm hath met,
His aid is with us still.

NOON :

"A wounded spirit who can bear ?” —Prov. xviii. 14.

Oh, may we hear Thy gracious word
Pronounce our sorrows past;
Establish Thou our goings, Lord,
While these our wanderings last.

EVENING:-
:-

Have I beheld the Lamb of God?

(John i. 29.)

Guilty I plead before Thy throne;
O God, my crimes forgive;

I plead the Saviour's blood alone;
Pardon, and bid me live.

MORNING

"I will make mention of Thy righteousness, even of Thine only."-Psa. lxxi. 16.

To Thee, Thou bleeding Lamb, to Thee,
For pardon, peace, and life, we flee;
The shelter of Thy cross we claim;
Thy righteousness alone we name.

NOON:

"Ye shall abide in Him."-1 John

ii. 27.

Oh, abide, abide in Jesus,

Who Himself for ever lives;

Who from death eternal frees us;

Yea, who life eternal gives.

EVENING:

Am I walking as Christ walked ?

(1 John ii. 6.)

Ye who the name of Jesus bear,

His sacred steps pursue;

And let that mind which was in Him

Be also found in you.

MORNING :

"I will fetch my knowledge from afar."-Job xxxvi. 3.

Blest Saviour, though my knowledge reach
To all that human systems teach,
How small the learning I possess,
If all unknown Thy righteousness!

NOON:

"Now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."

-1 Cor. xiii. 12.

Oh, argument for truth divine,

For study's cares, for virtue's strife,
To know the enjoyment will be thine
In that reserved, that endless life!

EVENING:

"Have I learned the first elements of true wisdom?—(Psa. cxi. 10.) Bless'd are the souls that hear and know The gospel's joyful sound;

Peace shall attend the path they go,
And light their steps surround.
