MORNING. "Mine hand shall not be -1 Sam. xxiv. 12, 13. Much forgiven, may I learn NOON: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." Luke xxiii.34. Thy foes might hate, despise, revile; Thy friends unfaithful prove; Unwearied in forgiveness, still EVENING: Do I love my enemies?-(Matt. v. 44.) So does the fragrant sandal bow, In meek forgiveness, to its doom, MORNING :- "I will help thee;...let us behave ourselves valiantly."-1 Chron. xix. 12, 13. Help one another, help! Lift up the fear-enfeebled hand; Keep dying hope alive. "Safety (marg. victory) is of the Lord."-Prov. xxi. 31. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! EVENING: Am I helpful to the weak, and do I sustain the falling?—(Job iv. 3, 4.) O happy, happy, who love's task fulfil, Who their true loving Lord do copy still, And for Love's sake by Love do execute Love's will. MORNING : ર "I will surely show thee kindness for...thy father's sake."-2 Sam. ix. 7. Thy father's friend forsake not, NOON: "The memory of the just is blessed." -Prov. x. 7. Lov'd while on earth! nor less belov'd tho' Think not I envy you your crown. [gone! No! if I could, I would not call you down; Tho' slower is my pace, to you I follow on. EVENING: Am I following those who have gone before to glory?—(Heb. vi. 11, 12.) I'll follow on, Leaning on Jesus all the way, MORNING : "Daniel purposed...that he would not defile himself."-Dun. i. 8. O for a persevering power To keep Thy just commands! We would defile our hearts no more, "In malice, be ye children; but in understanding, be men." I Cor.xiv.20. Keep, Lord, our souls for ever young, For ever undefiled; Nor let the gifts of manhood drown EVENING: Does my soul need cleansing ?—(1 John i. 7.) Jesus, my great High-priest, has died; His blood did once for all atone, And now He pleads before the throne. MORNING : "As for me, I will walk in mine integrity."-Psa. xxvi. 11. Lord, I my vows to Thee renew; Guard my first springs of thought and will, NOON: "A sound heart is the life of the flesh."-Prov. xiv. 30. My cares, I give you to the wind, Well may I trust my all with Him EVENING: Does my soul need refreshing ?(Deut. xxxii. 2.) Oh, speak a blessing, gracious Lord; |
