MORNING :

"Thou hast fully KNOWN my doctrine, manner of life, PURPOSE, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience."

Tim. iii. 10.

So let our lips and lives express
The holy gospel we profess;

So let our works and virtues shine
prove the doctrine all divine.

"The just man walketh in his integrity. -Prov. xx. 7.

Thou holy God, preserve my soul
From all pollution free!

The pure in heart are Thy delight,
And they Thy face shall see.

EVENING:

Am I an epistle of Christ read and known?-(2 Cor. iii. 2, 3.)

Has grace, descending from above,
This evil heart possess'd,

In meekness, patience, truth, and love,
To all around express'd?

[blocks in formation]

"I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation."— Mic. vii. 7.

Christian, cast an eye above thee,
Thou hast yet a Friend to love thee;
Jesus shall forsake thee never;
He will be thy strength for ever.

"His secret is with the righteous." -Prov. iii. 32.

The Lord shall make him know

The secrets of His heart,

The wonders of His covenant show,

And all His love impart.

Thou art the Way;-to Thee alone
From sin and death we flee;

And he who would the Father seek,
Must seek Him, Lord, in Thee.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear.”. Psa. xxvii. 3.

Now let the feeble all be strong,
And make Jehovah's arm their song;
His shield is spread o'er every saint,
And, thus supported, who shall faint ?

NOON:

"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."-Prov. iii. 6.

Lord! through the Spirit whom Thy Son
Hath bidden us in prayer to ask,

Arm us with might, that every task
Whate'er we do, in Thee be done.

EVENING: :

Do I know Christ as the truth from heaven?-(John viii. 31, 32.)

Thou art the Truth ;-Thy word alone
True wisdom can impart ;

Thou only canst instruct the mind,
And purify the heart.

MORNING :

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”—Psa. xxiii. 4.

Blessed who in Christ shall die,
Death is changed to life for ever!
They have life when death is nigh;
Life beyond, which endeth never!

NOON:

"The living know that they shall die."-Eccles. ix. 5.

Lord! it is not life-to live,

If Thy presence Thou deny. Lord, if Thou Thy presence give, 'Tis no longer death-to die.

EVENING:

Do I know Christ as the Life?

(1 John v. 12.)

Thou art the Life ;-the rending tomb
Proclaims Thy conquering arm;
And those who put their trust in Thee,
Nor death nor hell shall harm.

MORNING :

"I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest."-Matt. viii. 19.

Omnipotence is on your side,

And wisdom watches o'er your head, Yea, God Himself will be your guide, So ye but follow where He leads.

NOON:

Thy foot shall not stumble."Prov. iii. 23.

Guard me, Saviour, by Thy power;
Guard me in the trying hour;
Let Thine unremitted care
Save me from the lurking snare.

EVENING:

Do I fix my eye on Him I follow? -(Eph. v. 1, 2.)

Oh, keep the morning of His incarnation, The burning noon-tide of His bitter passion, The night of His descending, and the height Of His ascension, ever in my sight!
