CHAPTER I-POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT NOTE: Order, 29 F.R. 344, Jan. 15, 1964, reads in part as follows: With a view to a more economical and efficient operation of the Postal Service, effective February 1, 1964, the hour designation in postmarks will be discontinued on all mail at all post offices. On and after that date, mail postmarked between 12:01 a.m. and 12 noon will show the letters A.M. as time designation. Mail postmarked from 12:01 p.m. to 12 midnight will show the letters P.M.
