Stories of Colonial Children, by Mara L. Pratt, contains 221 pages, with numerous characteristic illustrations. The author has taken a basis of historical fact for her "stories;" and by her active imagination and attractive style, she has made a book which will please and instruct the children. For by its means, they will get a vivid idea of the men and women as well as the children, of the manners and customs and ways of living, in the early days of our country. They will learn more history than they could from a dry text-book on history; and they will learn it in a way to create an appetite for a fuller knowedge.-Public School Journal.

Stories of Colonial Children came to hand two days ago since which time it has been read with great eagerness and pleasure by my little nine year old boy Ralph and myself. I would like to have every child in the land read the book. Therein is found primary and grammar grade history of the best sort.-O. C. SCOTT, Supt. Schools, Oskalo sa, Iowa.

Americam History Stories.

By MARA L. PRATT, Author of Young Folk's Library of American History, etc. Vols I, II, III, IV.

Price, Boards, 36 cents each; Cloth, 50 cents.

USED IN THE SCHOOLS OF NEW YORK, BOSTON, BROOKLYN, ETC

Your American Histories are, in my opinion among the most valuable aids to the work of introducing History in the lower grades. We are using a quantity of them in Grades III and IV. Reading and language are best developed in connection with what is intensely interesting, and I predict a large demand for books of this sort.

S. T. DUTTON, Supt. of Schools, Brookline, Mass.

Ten Dollars for a School Library Secured

in Two Hours.

EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHING CO.

Dear Sir: Please find enclosed money order to the amount of $10.00, for which you will please ship to my address, via American Express Company School Library A. My pupils sold nearly one hundred certificates in about two hours at

the close of an afternoon session of school.

Miss GERTRUDE L. MCDONALD,

Prin. Walter Street Grammar School.

You can do the same, read this:

The "Hawthorne Library Certificates," which we send you. (FREE), are to be plaeed in the hands of your pupils, each one acting as a representative in obtaining subscriptions for his school library. Some pupils will dispose of only two or three, while others will sell as many as ten or fifteen shares. Our teacher writes us that the entire amount ($10.00) was raised in two hours, by this method, but everyone, of course, cannot expect such excellent results as this: the average time being from four to ten days.

The subscriber is given a certificate of his subscription and his name is written in the blank space for that purpose, and the certificate is then signed by the pupil. This work has a good effect on the pupil, making him feel that he is an important factor in securing a library for his school, thereby stimulating his interest in the matter.

It will cost you a two cent stamp.

Send to us now and we will send you 100 certificates, as mentioned above, free.

Our Special Offer.

EXTENDED TO MARCH 1st, 1898.

Every teacher who will send for certificates now, and will send us their order for a library on or before March 1st, 1898, may select, for their personal use, any two books from our entire list (see our complete catalogue of 1896-97,) or we will give one years' subscription to either Popular Educator or PRIMARY EDUCATION, Free. If you are now a subscriber to either of these papers, we will advance your subscription one year.

Remember that you are under no obligation to make a purchase. All we ask is that you return all unsold certificates. Many hundreds sent for our certificates last year and secured one of our school libraries by this method. It costs you nothing to try, and to try this method is to own one of our famous libraries.
