LOOKING TO JESUS.

Children you have gone astray,

Far from God, and peace, and heaven; Would you leave that dangerous way? Would you have your sins forgiven? Christ can all your sins forgive, Look to Jesus, look and live.

Children you have sinful hearts:
Jesus Christ can make you whole,
He can cleanse your inward parts,
Sanctify and save your soul.

Jesus a new heart can give;
Look to Jesus, look and live.

Children you must shortly die,
Jesus died your souls to save;
If you to the Saviour fly
You shall live beyond the grave,
Life eternal he will give,

Look to Jesus, look and live.

GOD'S CARE OF US.-c. M.
Come let us join, our God to praise,
Whose mercy knows no end;
To him our cheerful voices raise,
Our Father and our Friend.

In tender infancy, His care

Preserved our lives from harm;
And still as years roll on, we are
Protected by his arm.

He gives us friends, who seek our good, And wish to make us wise;

His bounteous hand provides our food,
And all our wants supplies.

He gently leads our thoughts on high,
By kind instruction given;
He hears the prayers of infancy,
And points the way to heaven.

AN INVITATION.-P. M.

Come ye sinners, poor and wretched,
This is your accepted hour;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love, and power;
He is able,

He is willing: doubt no more!

O, ye needy, come and welcome!
God's free bounty glorify:
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings us nigh-
Without money,

Come to Jesus Christ and buy.

Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him;
This He gives you;

'Tis the Spirit's rising beam.

Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Lost and ruined by the fall;
If you tarry till you're better,
You will never come at all;
Not the righteous,-

Sinners Jesus came to call.
Agonizing in the garden,

Lo! the Saviour prostrate lies!
On the bloody tree behold Him,
Hear Him cry before He dies,
"It is finished!"

Sinners will not this suffice?
Lo, the incarnate God ascended,
Pleads the merit of His blood;
Venture on Him, venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude:
None but Jesus

Can do helpless sinners good.
Saints and angels joined in concert,
Sing the praises of the Lamb;
While the blissful seats of glory,
Sweetly echo with His name!
Hallelujah!

Heaven and earth His praise proclaim!

TRUST IN GOD AND DO THE RIGHT.-6 7's

Courage, brother, do not stumble,
Though thy path is dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble-
"Trust in God and do the right."

Let the road be long and dreary,
And its ending out of sight,
Foot it bravely-strong or weary,
"Trust in God and do the right."

Perish policy and cunning,
Perish all that fears the light:
Whether losing, whether winning,
"Trust in God and do the right."

Trust no party, church, or faction,
Trust no leaders in the fight;
But in every word or action,
"Trust in God and do the right."

Some will hate thee, some will love thee, Some will flatter, some will slight; Cease from man, and look above thee, "Trust in God and do the right."

GENTLE REPROOF.-C. M.

Deal gently with the erring one,
You may not know the power,
With which the first temptation came
In some unguarded hour.
You may not know how earnestly

He struggled-or how well;
Until the hour of weakness came
And sadly thus he fell.

Speak gently to the erring one;
Oh! do not thou forget,
However deeply stained by sin,
He is thy brother yet.
Heir of the self-same heritage,
Child of the self-same God,
He hath but stumbled in the path
Thou hast in weakness trod.

Speak gently to the erring one,
For is it not enough

That peace and innocence are gone,
Without thy censure rough?
Oh! sure it is a weary lot,

That sin-crushed heart to bear;
And they who have a happier lot,
May well their chidings spare.
Speak gently to the erring one,
And thou may'st lead him back,
With holy words and looks of love,
From misery's thorny track.
Forget not too, that thou hast sinned,
And sinful yet may be :

Deal gently with the erring one,

As God has dealt with thee,

J. A FLETCHER.

THE BLIND BOY.

"Dear Mary," said a poor blind boy,
"That little bird sings very long;

Say, do you see him in his joy,
And is he pretty as his song?"
