A Company of gentlemen well known in Boston have established a Bleachery e purpose of giving to fine and well known qualities of cotton goods- by a new ss of bleaching- more value than can be obtained by any other. Goods are ully handled, and, when bleached by this new Process, cannot be excelled. Every vho has used these goods, whether to sew or to wear, has been delighted with , and the demand steadily increases.

Manufacturers of under-garments pronounce this cotton the best they have ever

: up.

The goods can be put on at once and worn as under-garments, and feel like " old n" many times washed. The Process is like the old-fashioned grass bleach in It is known as "Canton Bleach," and has become popular among householders the trade generally, because

hese goods are full strength, i. e., they are not injured by strong chemicals, oloring matter only, and not the fibre being removed.

The goods are not artificially weighted, i. e., they contain nothing but pure cot-no sizing, clay, or chemicals to make it appear heavy, and which all disappear n the cloth is washed.

The goods have the softest and best finish, i. e., you can sew through any numof thicknesses which you can get into the sewing-machine, the needle passing ugh with ease.

Needles and thread do not constantly break; no soaping of seams is required; goods not being over-bleached will outwear goods bleached by the old process. The Company does honest work of but one quality, and that of the best, and ntain the standard of quality. Full value will always be given. The goods bleached his Company are stamped on the end of each piece, and as this Company alone as and uses this process, you cannot be deceived and get other goods if you will erve the stamp on the goods before purchasing.

e

The Canton Manufacturing Company, which bleaches these cottons, guarantees statements herein made.

Do not purchase cotton goods until you have examined the "Canton Bleach." Be

and demand of retailers generally to see the goods; and do not fail, before pursing a yard of Cotton goods, to see if the stamp "Canton Bleach" is on it.

Dodd, Mead and Company,

755 BROADWAY, NEW YORK,

Announce the publication of a series of books entitled

TALES FROM MANY SOURCES. Remembering the popularity in this country of the series of "Tales from Blackwood," they were led to examine the principal English magazines for the past few years with a view of obtaining material for a similar but more varied series. They soon found that the art of story-writing had greatly improved since the early days of Blackwood, and that many charming short stories might be gathered together in a form convenient and attractive to American readers, offering great variety of character and treatment. They have therefore determined on the series as announced above, to be issued in compact 12mo volumes of from two hundred and fifty to three hundred pages each. The books will be issued in a style worthy of the library shelf, well printed and tastefully bound in cloth, at the low price of 75 cents per volume. They will appear at intervals of a fortnight. Vol. I., published April 18, contains: THE THREE STRANGERS. BY THOMAS HARDY. THE BLACK POODLE. By F. ANSTEY. LORD RICHARD AND I. By JULIAN STURGIS. THE PAVILION OF THE LINKS. THE HERMIT OF ST. EUGENE. MATTIE. The Story of an Evening.
