MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Gordon offered the following:

Resolved, That the Speaker is hereby requested to name the day and the hour for the meeting of the different House committees; and that the chairman of each committee be held accountable to the Speaker for the attendance of the members of such committee at the time and place assigned;

Mr. Hammond offered the following:

Resolved, That the special committee heretofore appointed in the matter of the contested election cases from Wayne county be permitted to sit during the sessions of the House.

Be it further resolved, That said committee be empowered to employ a competent stenographer for the taking of such testimony as may be presented to said committee;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Barkworth offered the following:

WHEREAS, The law provides that recommendations relative to appropriations for State institutions shall be first submitted to two separate boards, each of which is required to visit such institutions prior to recommending the appropriations, therefore

Resolved, That no committee of this House be deemed authorized to visit any State institution unless the House shall, because of disagreement between the board of any institution and the State Board of Co and Charities, or for some other specific reason, so order;

On the adoption of which Mr. Barkworth demanded the yeas and nays. The demand was seconded and the resolution was not adopted by yeas and nays as follows:
