The message informed the Senate that the House of Representatives had concurred in the Senate amendment to the concurrent resolution, striking out "3:30 p. m." and inserting in lieu thereof "8 p. m."

Leaves of Absence.

Messrs. Eldred and Ross asked and were granted leaves of absence until Tuesday, January 9.

Messrs. Gettel, Johnson, Karcher and Osborn asked and were granted leaves of absence until Wednesday, January 10.

Messrs. Leland and Riopelle asked and were granted indefinite leaves of absence.

Mr. Ross moved that the Senate adjourn.

The motion prevailed, the time being 2:55 o'clock p. m.

Accordingly, and in pursuance of the order previously made, the President declared the Senate adjourned until Monday, January 8, 1923, at 8:00 o'clock p. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the Hon. Frank L. Young, Senator from the Fourteenth District, who had been designated by the President as temporary president for this day.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

Present:

Senators Bahorski, Bohn, William L. Case, Connelly, Gansser, Henry, Pearson, Truettner, Wilcox, Young-10-not a quorum.

Mr. Henry moved that the Senate adjourn.

The motion prevailed, the time being 8:02 o'clock p. m.

Accordingly, the President declared the Senate adjourned until tomorrow at 2:00 o'clock p. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the President.

Religious exercises were conducted by Rev. John C. Gibson, chaplain of the State Industrial School for Boys at Lansing.

The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

Present: Senators Bahorski, Bohn, Brower, Case, Bernie L., Case, William L., Condon, Connelly, Eldred, Gansser, Henry, Horton, Hunter, MacNaughton, Pearson, Penney, Ross, Sligh, Truettner, Whiteley, Wilcox and Young.-21, a quorum.

Absent with leave: Senators Gettel, Johnson, Karcher, Leland, Osborn and Riopelle-6.

Absent without leave:

Senators Atwood, Glaspie. Hayes, Smith, Wood-5.

On motion of Mr. Henry, Senator Smith was granted leave of absence until Thursday, January 11.

Mr Brower moved that the other absentees without leave be excused from today's session.

The motion prevailed.

Announcements by the Secretary.

The Secretary announced that pursuant to the requirements of Senate rule No. 10 and Senate resolution No. 9 he had on January 4 appointed:

And that he had on January 9 appointed:

Bills Printed and Filed.

The Secretary announced the printing of the following entitled bills and that the said printed bills were placed on file in the Document Room of the Senate January 6, 1923:

Senate bill No. 1 (file No. 1)

To amend section 1 of Act No. 204 of the P. A. of 1893-creating board of jury commissioners in Wayne County.

Senate bill No. 2 (file No. 2)

To amend sections 4, 4-a, 4-b, and 5 of Act No. 85 of the P. A. of 1921-prescribing fees, etc., to be paid the State by corporations.
