Senate bill No. 70, entitled

A bill to amend sections 6, 7 and 10 of chapter 15 of the Revised Statutes of 1846, entitled "Of resignations, vacancies and removals, and of supplying vacancies," being sections 245, 246 and 249 of the Compiled Laws of 1915, as last amended by Act No. 145 of the Public Acts of 1921.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title, ordered printed and referred to the Committee on State Affairs.

Mr. Glaspie introduced

Senate bill No. 71, entitled

A bill to amend section 5 of Act No. 115 of the Public Acts of 1921, entitled "An act to fix the rates of fare for the transportation of passengers within this State, which may be charged by any interurban railroad, and to provide for the regulation of such rates of fare by the Michigan Public Utilities Commission," approved May 5, 1921.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title, and referred to the Committee on Railroads.

Mr. Gansser introduced

Senate bill No. 72, entitled

A bill to promote the safety of railroad employes and the traveling public by requiring railroad companies to equip their engines with automatic fire box doors. The bill was read a first and second time by its title. ordered printed, and referred to the Committee on Railroads.

Senate bill No. 73, entitled

A bill to promote the safety of the general public by requiring railroad companies to equip their locomotives with automatic bell ringers.

The bill was read a first and second time by its title, ordered printed and referred to the Committee on Railroads.

A message was received from the House of Representatives transmitting
Senate concurrent resolution No. 4,

Providing for assistance in the Legislative Reference Department.

The message informed the Senate that the House of Representatives had adopted the concurrent resolution.

The resolution was referred to the Secretary for record.

A message was received from the House of Representatives transmitting
Senate concurrent resolution No. 7,

A concurrent resolution providing for adjournment for more than three days. The message informed the Senate that the House of Representatives had amended the resolution by striking out the words "Tuesday, January 30, at 4:00 o'clock p. m.", and inserting in lieu thereof the words "Monday, January 29, at 8:00 o'clock p. m."

The question being on concurring in the amendment made to the resolution by the House,

The Senate non-concurred in the amendment.

Mr. Truettner asked and was granted leave of absence until Wednesday, January 31.

A message was received from the House of Representatives re-transmitting
Senate concurrent resolution No. 7.

Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), That when the Legislature adjourns on Thursday, January 25, it stand adjourned until Tuesday, January 30, at 4:00 o'clock p. m.

The message informed the Senate that the House of Representatives had receded from its amendment and had adopted the resolution.

The resolution was referred to the Secretary for record.

Mr. Henry moved that the Senate adjourn.

The motion prevailed, the time being 3:15 o'clock p. m.

Accordingly, and in pursuance of the order previously made, the President declared the Senate adjourned until Tuesday, January 30, 1923, at 4:00 o'clock p. m.
