67. “ CHRIST, the Lord, is risen to-day,"

Sons of men, and Angels, say ;
Raise your songs of triumph high;
Sing, ye heavens; thou earth, reply.

Love's redeeming work is done,,
Fought the fight, the battle won;
Lo! the Sun's eclipse is o'er;
Lo! He sets in blood no more.

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;
Christ hath burst the gates of hell ;
Death in vain forbids His rise ;
Christ hath open'd Paradise.

Lives again our glorious King!
*here, o Death, is now thy sting?

68.

CHRIST the Lord is risen again ;

Christ hath broken every chain;
Hark, angelic voices cry,
Singing evermore on high,

Alleluia !
He who gave for us His life,
Who for us endured the strite,
Is our Paschal Lamb to-day;
We too sing for joy, and say,

Alleluia!
He who bore all pain and loss
Comfortless upon the cross,
Lives in glory now on high,
Pleads for us and hears our cry;

Alleluia !
He who slumber'd in the grave,
Is exalted now to save;

Now through Christendom it rings
That the Lamb is King of kings.

Now He bids His Church record
How the lost may be restored,
How the penitent forgiven,
How we too may enter heaven.

Thou our Paschal Lamb indeed,
Christ, Thy ransom'd people feed :
Take our sins and guilt away,
That we all may sing for aye,

69. JESUS lives! no longer now

JESUS lives! for us He died : Can thy terrors, Death, appal us ; Then, alone to Jesus living, JESUS lives! by this we know

Pure in heart may wę abide, Thou, O Grave, canst not enthral us. Glory to our Saviour giving. Alleluia!

Alleluia! Jesus lives! henceforth is death

Jesus lives! our hearts know well But the gate of life immortal;

Nought from us His love shall sever;
This shall calm our trembling breath, Life, nor death, nor powers of hell
When we pass its gloomy portal.

Tear us from His keeping ever.

Alleluia!
Jesus lives! to Him the throne

Over all the world is given :
May we go where He is gone,
