A title is a term used as a mark of respect in speaking or writing the name of a person. The titles most in use are: Mister, written Mr. before the name of a man. Master, written Master before the name of a boy. Mistress or Missis, written Mrs. before the name of a married woman. Miss, written Miss before the name of an unmarried woman, or before the name of a girl. Doctor, written Dr. before the name of a physician. Sir addressing a man, and Madam addressing a woman.
