The National Lawyers Guild, in convention assembled, hereby declares its full support for the Fogarty resolution (H. Res. 270) and urges its immediate adoption by the Congress. Toward the end of developing friendly relations among nations and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, a free plebiscite should be authorized to determine whether the Republic of Ireland should embrace the entire 32 counties of Ireland; and the Ireland Act of 1949 should be forthwith abrogated, and foreign troops withdrawn from the entire territory of Ireland. LADIES' AUXILIARY, ANCIENT ORDER OF HIBERNIANS OF AMERICA, Hon. JOHN KEE, Chairman, Foreign Affairs Committee, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C. MY DEAR JUDGE KEE: Please have the following statement inserted in the record of the hearing held in your office April 28, 1950. It was a matter of bitter disappointment that I could not attend that hearing. As national vice president of the Ladies' Auxiliary, of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, in America, I wish to protest in my own name and in the name of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians against the partion of Ireland. The action of the British Government in arbitrarily partioning the six counties after World War I, is and has been of deep concern to our members. We therefore support House Resolution 270 as introduced by the Honorable John E. Fogarty, of Rhode Island. It is no secret that through 700 years England's energies were concentrated upon an effort, seemingly to annihilate the Irish race. Ireland was partioned by the British Parliament in 1920 against the will of 80 percent of the Irish people. The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians join with the American League for An Undivided Ireland and respectfully submit our request for favorable action by your committee on House Resolution 270, House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States.
