REPORT 62D CONGRESS, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. No. 81. 1st Session. BRIDGE ACROSS MISSOURI RIVER, ST. CHARLES, MO. JULY 29, 1911.-Referred to the House Calendar and ordered to be printed. Mr. HAMLIN, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following REPORT. [To accompany H. R. 6738.] The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 6738) to authorize the St. Louis-Kansas City Electric Railway Co. to construct a bridge across the Missouri River, at or near the town of St. Charles, Mo., having considered the same, report thereon with amendment and as so amended recommend that it pass. The bill as amended has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached and which are made a part of this report. Amend the bill as follows: Strike out of the title of the bill, in lines 1 and 2, the words, "to authorize the Saint Louis-Kansas City Electric Railway Company to construct" and insert in lieu thereof the words, "to extend the time for constructing"; and in lines 2 and 3 of the title strike out the words "at or near the town of Saint Charles, Missouri," so as to make the title to read "To extend the time for constructing a bridge across the Missouri River." Strike out, on page 1, lines 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, and insert in lieu thereof the following: That the time for commencing and completing construction of the bridge authorized by the act approved June twenty-third, nineteen hundred and ten, to be built by the Saint Louis-Kansas City Electric Railway Company across Missouri River at or near Saint Charles, Missouri, is hereby extended one year and three years, respectively, from the date of approval hereof. R. 6738, 62d Cong., 1st sess.) to authorize the construction of a bridge across the Missouri River at or near St. Charles, Mo., is identical with an act approved June 23, 1910, which act is still in full force and effect. As there is apparently no occasion for a duplication of the statute, it is assumed that the object of the bill is to extend the time limit for the construction of the bridge authorized by the said act, which will expire June 23 next. I accordingly recordmend that the bill be amended as indicated in red thereon, and, as thus amended. R. 7263.] The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 7263) to authorize the counties of Bradley and McMinn, Tenn., by authority of their county courts, to construct a bridge across the Hiwassee River at Charleston and Calhoun, in said counties, having considered the same, report thereon with amendment, and as so amended recommend that it pass. The bill as amended has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached and which is made a part of this report. Amend the bill as follows: Insert, after the word "at" on page 1, line 6, the words "a point suitable to the interests of navigation at or near. Insert, after the word "River," on page 1, line 8, the words, "at a point suitable to the interests of navigation." 1. Respectfully returned to the Secretary of War. 2. The accompanying bill (H. R. 7263, 62d Cong., 1st sess.) to authorize the construction of a bridge across Hiwassee River at Charleston and Calhoun, Tenn., is in the usual form and makes ample provision for the protection of navigation interests. 3. R. 11660) to authorize the St. Louis-Kansas City Electric Railway Co. to construct a bridge across the Missouri River at or near the town of Weldon Springs Landing, Mo., having considered the same, report thereon with amendment, and as so amended recommend that it pass. The bill as amended has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the indorsements attached, and which are made a part of this report. Amend the bill as follows: Insert, on page 1, line 6, after the word "River" the following: "at a point suitable to the interests of navigation." Respectfully returned to the Secretary of War with recommendation that the accompanying bill (H.
