Provided, That all cotton cloths or cloths of which cotton is mate-
rial of chief value (except nankeens imported directly from
China), the original cost of which at the place whence imported,
with the addition of 20 per cent, if imported from Cape of Good
Hope and from places beyond it, and of 10 per cent if imported
from any other place, shall be less than 25 cents per square yard,
shall, with such addition, be taken and deemed to have cost 25
cents per square yard, and shall be charged with duty accord-
ingly.

And provided further, That cotton piece goods imported in ships
of United States which sailed from United States before this act
and shall return between June 3, 1816, and June 1, 1817, the
original cost of which goods at place whence imported shall
have been less than 25 cents per square yard, shall be admitted
to entry subject only to 33 per cent duty on cost of said goods
in India and on the usual addition of 20 per cent on that cost.

All manufactures in whole or in part of cotton from beyond 25 per cent ad valorem.
Cape of Good Hope.

Provided, That all cotton cloths whatsoever, or cloths of which
cotton shall be a component material, excepting nankeens
imported directly from China, the original cost of which at
place whence imported, with the addition of 20 per cent if
imported from the Cape of Good Hope or beyond, and of 10
per cent if imported from any other place, shall be less than
30 cents per square yard shall, with such addition, be deemed
to have cost 30 cents per square yard and shall be charged with
duty accordingly.

Provided, That all cotton cloths whatsoever, or cloths of which
cotton shall be a component material, excepting nankeens
imported directly from China, the original cost of which at
place whence imported, with the addition of 20 per cent if
imported from the Cape of Good Hope or from any place be-
yond, and of 10 per cent if imported from any other place, shall
be less than 35 cents per square yard shall, with such addition,
be deemed to have cost 35 cents per square yard and shall be
charged with duty accordingly.

yard, shall equal 30 cents per square yard in value, except vel-
vets, cords, moleskins, fustians, buffalo cloths, or goods manu-
factured by napping, or raising, cutting, or shearing, not ex-
ceeding in value 35 cents per square yard, shall be valued at 35
cents per square yard and duty be paid thereon accordingly.
Manufactures of cotton if embroidered or tamboured in the loom
or otherwise, by machinery, or with the needle or other process.
Manufactures of cotton not otherwise provided for.

All manufactures composed wholly of cotton which are bleached,
printed, painted, or dyed, and delaines.

All manufactures composed wholly of cotton, bleached, un-
bleached, painted, printed, or dyed not otherwise provided for.
