The Senate went into committee of the whole on the general order, Mr. Austin in the chair. After some time spent therein, the committee rose, and, through their chairman made the following report: I. The committee of the whole have had under consideration the following. Senate bill No. 131 (File No. 154), entitled, A bill to amend section one (1) of act number one hundred and forty-two (142) of the session laws of eighteen hundred and eighty-three, being an act entitled "An act to provide for selecting petit jurors in the Upper Peninsula;" Senate bill No. 185 (File No. 164), entitled, A bill to provide for the appointment, compensation, and duties of a stenographer of the sixteenth judicial circuit; Have made no amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, and recommend their passage. II. The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following. Senate bill No. 110, entitled A bill to amend act No. 28, of the session laws of 1877, approved March 9, 1877, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment of an assistant prosecuting attorney for the county of Wayne," by adding a new section thereto to stand as section ; Senate bill No. 4 (File No. 6), entitled A bill to regulate the gas works in the State of Michigan; Senate bill No. 37 (File No. 15), entitled A bill to prevent the spread of contagious diseases among cattle; Have made sundry amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the House, asking concurrence therein, and recommend their passage.
