Ordered, That Mr. EDMONDSON carry the resolution to the Senate and request their concurrence.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr. BERRY, who informed the House that the Senate had agreed to the resolution.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr. HURT, who informed the House that the Senate had agreed to a joint resolution instructing the treasurer of Pittsylvania county not to make sale of delinquent lands, &c., in which they respectfully request the concurrence of the House.

The Senate joint resolution was read twice, and, on motion of Mr. WITHERS, was placed on the calendar.

By Mr. BRUGH: A bill for relief from erroneous assessment.

By Mr. COOKE: A bill to amend and re-enact section 3570 of the Code, relative to judgments not a lien against purchaser for value without notice unless docketed.

By Mr. WILKINSON: A bill to establish an additional court for the city of Norfolk and to define its jurisdiction.

By Mr. COOKE: A bill requiring the corporation court of the city of Norfolk to hold monthly terms for the trial of all causes and matters cognizable by said court.

The morning hour having expired, the House proceeded to the business on the calendar.

Senate joint resolution instructing the treasurer of Pittsylvania county not to make sale of delinquent lands, &c., was read a third time and agreed to.

Mr. WITHERS moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate joint resolution was agreed to; which motion was rejected.

No. 1, House engrossed bill changing the time for commencing the construction of the Washington and Western railroad, was read a third time and passed.

Mr. RYAN moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill was passed; which motion was rejected.

Ordered, That Mr. RYAN carry the bill to the Senate and request their concurrence.

Mr. JONES offered the following concurrent resolution:

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the general assembly proceed this day at 12:30 P. M. to the election of auditor of public accounts, treasurer, secretary of the Commonwealth, second auditor, superintendent of public instruction, register of the land office, superintendent of the penitentiary, railroad commissioner, and superintendent of public printing; that in the execution of the joint order nominations shall be made for the whole number in the order in which they appear above, and then each house shall be notified of said nominations, then the roll shall be called for the election of one of the officers in the order named, and when the roll shall have been called for the whole number the presiding officer of each house shall appoint a committee of two, which together shall constitute a joint committee to count the joint vote in each case, and report the result to their respective houses.

Which was agreed to.

The hour of 12:30 o'clock P. M. having arrived, being the hour fixed for the execution of the joint order, which has for its object the election of certain State officers

Ordered, That Mr. COOKE inform the Senate that the House is ready on its part to proceed to the execution of the joint order.
