GENTLEMEN, R. E. Lee camp, No. 1, Confederate veterans, earnestly asks your presence at and your assistance to make a financial success of their entertainment to be given at the theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, December 13th and 14th. The play is a military drama, entitled "Fortunes of War"-a play of considerable merit, performed by first-class professionals, assisted by Lee camp Confederate veterans and Company B, First regiment, Virginia volunteers, infantry. The object of the entertainment is to raise a fund for the support of destitute widows and orphans of Confederate soldiers, to be distributed by the Ladies' auxiliary corps of Lee camp, a noble band of southern women whose labors and sacrifices in behalf of the suffering and afflicted is not less grand and glorious than the action of that noble band of patriots who braved the dangers and suffering of the weary march, or who followed the starry cross upon many a well-fought field to victory, to glory and renown. In behalf of the suffering, whose loved ones sacrificed life for right and the honor of our grand old Commonwealth, Lee camp appeals to the representatives of the people of Virginia to assist them in this charitable work.

With highest regards we subscribe ourselves,
