NOTES.

NOTE NO. 1-Supreme Court of Appeals.-Richmond, Va.: Of the number commenced, twentyone were cases of the Commonwealth.

NOTE NO. 2-Corporation Court.-Richmond city: This court being a court of exclusive origi nal jurisdiction of all criminal prosecutions for the city of Richmond, and it having no original civil jurisdiction, except in actions of forcible or unlawful entry and detainer, there are no cases to make report of in the second of the classes set out in the form prescribed by law, as above. Of the one hundred and forty-seven criminal cases pending on the dockets of this court on the last day of August, 1893, as shown by this report, ninety-eight were revenue cases instituted at the July term previous, and were continued till the next September term (there being no term of this court held in August), and consequently there were only fortynine criminal cases proper then pending on the docket.

NOTE NO. 3-Corporation Court.--Winchester: Under "actions at law." appeal cases and attachment cases from justices of peace are not included.

NOTE NO. 4-Circuit Courts-Third Circuit.-Buckingham: The number of chancery suits pending at the fall term, 1892, was two hundred and sixty-nine, and the number of chancery suits pending at the spring term, 1893, was two hundred and seventy-six.

NOTE NO. 5-Fifth Circuit.-Appomattox: The number of final decrees embraces decrees entered on commissioners' reports for restoring lost records, of which there were twelve, leaving fourteen final decrees in pending causes.

NOTE NO. 6-Ninth Circuit.-Northumberland: Law-In No. 7 commenced are three appeals from the county court, two liquor cases, and one in case of probate of will. In No. 7 pending cases is an appeal in said will case.

NOTE No. 7-Thirteenth Circuit.-Rockbridge: Among the actions at law decided are included eight cases of judgments confessed and dismissed at rules in the office, and also two issues out of chancery.

NOTE NO. 8.-Thirteenth Circuit.-Rockingham: The chancery finals include nine petitions consolidated with suits or otherwise disposed of.

NOTE NO. 9-Seventeenth Circuit.--Scott: The case under heading "change of venue to the court" was a prisoner indicted in county court, who elected to be tried in circuit court.
