NOTE-The area details are those of the British Board of Agriculture, the acreage yield since 1884 also being official, prior to 1884 the yields were
estimated by the "Times" Commissioner and other authorities. The imports and exports are the official returns issued by the "Customs." The
population estimates are from the statistical abstract of the United Kingdom Flour is converted at the rate of 70 per cent. The rate of consump-
tion for human food is reckoned at 5% bu. per capita until 1880 81; since that date at 5% bushels. The bushel is the Imperial measure.
