4. Every sentence, however long, has two such parts. The part denoting the person or thing spoken about is called the Subject. (The words given in Exercise 1 were to be used as Subjects.)

What we say about the person or thing denoted by the Subject is called the Predicate.

5. A sentence may be separated into two parts, thus:
