PAUL 373 c+ PUBLISHERS' PREFACE In presenting this work to the public we feel that we are filling a general and long felt want. The subject of taxation is one in which not only the legal profession but every property owner in the state is more or less interested and one which should be well understood by every one. In no other state has there been such diversity of legislation on the subject of taxation as in the State of Minnesota. As the mass of decisions and tax laws has grown the necessity for a classification and digest thereof has increased. This work is a compilation and a syllabus digest in which the tax laws and the tax decisions of the state are classified, digested, referenced and cross-referenced so as to bring any point or decision to the reader's attention at a glance. The prime object in view has been to make a thorough and complete syllabus digest of the Minnesota Decisions relating to taxation, grouping them into chapters, each chapter containing, as nearly as the overlapping character of the text would permit, all the syllabi pertaining to that distinctive feature of the law; and to compile and incorporate therein, under proper classification, the various sections of the statutory law with amendments contained in the 1915 and 1917 Laws. The primary advantages of this work will naturally inure to the legal profession, but it will also be an efficient aid to the various county officials and to property holders in the state in general.
