good general education, and familiarity with sanitary conditions in general, and especially regarding the handling of milk.

Museum Attendant.-General educaton at least equal to that required for graduation from the eighth grade of the city public schools; some acquaintance with the common forms and systematic arrangements of all divisions of natural history. Some of the subjects given in the past have been: General technical questions, botany, mineralogy, geology, natural history, zoology.

Oiler. Some familiarity with machines and machinists' work.

Park Conservatory Foreman.-Applicants must be practical horticulturists and have experience in directing the cultivation of ornamental plants.

Park Police.-Applicants must not be less than 24 nor more than 40 years of age, nor less than five feet seven and one-half inches in height, nor less than 150 pounds in weight. They must have necessary intelligence, be able to speak the Enlish language understandingly and be well acquainted with the topography of the city parks.

Plumbing Inspector and Assistant Plumbing Inspector.-Candidates must be practical plumbers, acquainted with the principles of sanitation, and must possess qualifications equal to those required of a master plumber.

Registrar of Vital Statistics.-Must be a licensed physician of good standing, and have knowledge of vital statistics.

Sanitary Inspector.-Age not less than 21 nor more than 40 years; height not less than five feet six inches, and weight not less than 145 pounds; good general education; practical knowledge of sanitation and plumbing, and acquaintance with the topography of the city of Milwaukee.

Sealer and First and Second Deputy Sealer of Weights and Measures.—Familiarity with the standard weights and measures (both liquid and dry) used in the United States, besides knowledge of the metric system.

Street and Sidewalk Inspector.-Common school education; practice and knowledge of all materials used in the construction of streets, sidewalks and alleys; ability to read and understand specifications.

Superintendent of Distribution (Water Sub-Dept.).—Knowledge of local pipe system and its appurtenances; experience in dealing with breaks and leaks, also in making connections and taps.

Superintendent of Meters.-Knowledge of all kinds of water meters in use, their mechanism and manner of repair.

Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Natatoria.-Besides a general education, applicants must be good swimmers and divers, and must be married.

Superintendent of School Buildings.-Candidates must be familiar with the building laws and be practical and competent builders and architects and must have a thorough knowledge of the construction and repairs of school buildings.

Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Sewers.-Practical and theoretical knowledge of brick and pipe sewer work, and sufficient general education and intelligence.

Tax Assessor.-Six months' residence in the respective ward; commercial arithmetic; clear handwriting; experience in valuing and describing real property; good general education.

Tunnel Inspector.-Applicants must be brick masons, who shall have worked not less than three years at their trade, and who also have experience in laying brick in sewers and tunnels, and they must have sufficient general education and intelligence.

Ward Superintendent.-Six months' residence in the respective ward; acquaintance with the public works of the respective wards, and ability to assess and correctly describe property, practice and experience in all kinds of street and ward work, and executive ability to take charge of a force of men.

Watchman.-General intelligence, acquaintance with the location of streets of the city.

Weighmaster. Good penmanship and proficience in making tabulated reports.
