THE SHEEP.

The sheep has a white fleece.

What does it look like?

It looks like snow.

Will the dog run after the lamb?

No, he will follow me.

Did he follow you this morning?

Yes, he followed me to school. It is

against the rule to have dogs in school. Are you sure he is a good dog?

Yes, I am sure he is good. He will watch the sheep and the lambs.

It would make you laugh to see the lamb following grandfather.

AUNT MARY.

My Aunt Mary is a patient woman.

She has to work all day. I like to go to Aunt Mary's house.

My Cousin Sam has a large dog. One

day he went to school with Sam, and the teacher turned him out. The dog waited patiently for Sam.

Aunt Mary has a large black cat. The cat's name is Bob. Cousin Sam does not like that name for a cat. He says it is a dog's name.

They have black sheep at Aunt Mary's.
Did you ever see a black sheep?

THE STARS.

The stars appear in the sky after the

sun has set. They linger until the sun appears again in the morning. Do you know how many stars are in the sky?

What was the lesson about the star?
The man had a red star on his arm.

It was not like the stars in the sky.
The man will keep you from harm.

He likes to watch the stars.

When do the stars appear?

They appear at night. They come out one by one. They twinkle like diamonds.

They are high up in the sky.

[blocks in formation]

One was a big, big bear, and the other was a little, little bear.

The big, big bear had a big, big voice. When he spoke his voice shook the leaves on the trees.

He would shake his head and say:
"I'm not afraid to fight."

The little, little bear had a little, little

voice. He would go back of a tree, and

say: "I'm not afraid to run."

The big, big bear was eager to kill

the dog. The little, little bear would run away from the dog.

One day the big, big bear stood up and

said to the little, little bear:

Are you afraid of that dog?"

The little, little bear said in reply:

"No, I'm not afraid."

"Then, why are you running away?"

The little bear had begun to run into

the woods, away from the dog. He went back of a tree and said:

"I'm not afraid! I'm not afraid!"

When the big bear spoke to the little bear, what reply

did the little bear make?
