LITTLE NELLIE. Long ago there lived in a far off country a little girl named Nellie. She had blue eyes and golden hair and pink cheeks. Nellie was a pretty little girl.
One cold day, as she was playing by the roadside, she saw a woman and a little girl. The girl had on no hat nor mittens.
“Poor child,” said Nellie, “I will give her my mittens. Mother will get me new ones.”
Away she ran to the house for her mittens. She intended to tell her mother, but she did not see her, so she took the mittens back to the poor child.
