PREFACE

HIS selection of "Stories Children Love" has been made from the point of view of the children themselves, rather than from the point of view of grown-ups as to what children ought to like, and it is the result of a long experience of the tastes and preferences of children and young people at every stage from the nursery to adolescence.

The Editor has not relied on his own experience and observation alone, but he has been able to benefit by that of many others who have, with open minds, and by means of long and careful observation, been enabled to answer the question, "Which are the stories children like best, and which of those are the best for them?"
