Per The difficulty of making clearly distinctive definitions for classifying purchases of wheat according to the circumstances of purchase, makes it undesirable to base general conclusions on the rather complicated classification presented in this table. The great differences under which mills operate in the same State also make it quite uncertain as to whether purchases reported in any given State are typical of all purchases by mills doing a considerable commercial business in that State. The intrinsic importance of the data, however, Is such as to warrant their presentation for reference by expert students. Some of the mills included in this number are located in Kansas, Utah, and Idaho, and some were not purchased by the present owner till 1917. These mills include a few in other States and a few cereal mills. Less than one-tenth of 1 per cent. This number includes a few corn or cereal mills. |
