NOTE.- Under General Rulo III, section 2, clause (6), 7 (males) passed the clerk, and 2 (males) the copyist, 1 (male) the railway mail service, and 1 (male) the principal examiner and medical expert examination, and 4 (males) failed in the clerk examination.

Under General Ralo III, section 2, clause (d), 17 (males) were examined as follows: for engineer, Treasury Department, 1 passed; for assistant engineer, Treasury Department, 1 passed; for assistant engineer, Wur Department, 1 passed and 1 failed; for machinist, U.S. Commission of Fish and Fisheries, 2 passed; for fish culturist, U.S. Commission of Fish and Fisheries, 1 passed; for captain of the watch, Treasury Department, 1 passed; for captain of the watch, Post-Office Department, 3 failed; for captain of the watch, Weather Bureau, 1 passed; for lieutenant of the watch, Treasury Department, 1 failed; for superintendent, Pension Office Building, 1 passed; for storekeeper, Treasury Department, 1 passed; for special agent, Bureau of Labor, 1 passed, and for stenographer (to be confidential clerk to the Secretary of the Interior), 1 passed.

Under Departmental Rule VIII, section 1, clause (c), 7 (males) passed the clerk examination, and 8 (7 males and 1 female) passed the copyist examination.

Under Departmental Rulo IX, section 1, clause (6), 47 persons were examined for promotion, of whom 45 (34 males and 11 females) passed, and 2 (males) failed.

Under Departmental Rule IX, section 4, 3 persons were examined for promotion as assistant (com. puter) in the Nautical Almanac Office, of whom 2 passed and 1 failed.

Under Departmental Rulo VIII, section 1, clause (a), 12 persons were examined for transfer from one department to another, of whom 11 passed and 1 failed. Of those who passed, 6 (5 males and 1 female) took the clerk, 4 (1 male and 3 females) the copyist, 1 the draftsman examination, and 1 female failed in the clerk examination.
