Which has passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect been ordered to take effect July 3, 1901, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

Senate bill No. 496, entitled

A bill declaring St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church of the City of Adrian, Michigan, incorporated April 5, 1901, the corporate suecessor of a similar corporation of the same name incorporated about 36 years ago, and validating all acts of the officers of the old corporation, and transferring its property to the said new corporation;

In the passage of which the House has concurred by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect has ordered the same to take immediate effect.

A bill making appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1902, for erecting one detached building for women patients, for the purchase of furniture and furnishings for the same, and for the erection of five fire-proof stairways and the necessary remodeling incident thereto in the main buildings already erected at the Michigan Asylum for the Insane at Kalamazoo, and to provide for a tax to meet the same; Also:

House bill No. 383 (file No. 254), entitled

A bill making appropriations for the Michigan School for the Blind for the fiscal years ending July 30, 1902, and June 30, 1903, and to provide for a tax to meet the same;

Have made no amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, and recommend their passage. The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

Senate bill No. 4 (file No. 173), entitled

A bill to amend section 8 of Act No. 206 of the Session Laws of 1893, entitled “An Act to provide for the assessment of property and the levy (and collection) of taxes thereon, and for the collection of taxes heretofore and hereafter levied; making such taxes a lien on the lands taxed, establishing and continuing such lien, providing for the sale and conveyance of lands delinquent for taxes, and for the inspection and disposition of lands bid off to the State and not redeemed or purchased; and to repeal Act No. 200 of the Public Acts of 1891, and all other Acts and parts of Acts in anywise contravening any of the provisions of this Act;"

Have made an amendment thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, asking concurrence therein, and recommending that the bill be made the special order for Thursday, April 25.

Mr. Holmes moved that a respectful message be sent to the House asking the return to the Senate of

House bill No. 182 (file No. 41), entitled

A bill to regulate the confinement and trial of infants under the age of sixteen years.

The motion prevailed.

Mr. Holmes moved to take from the table

House bill No. 181 (file No. 40), entitled

A bill to prohibit the conducting, establishing or maintaining, or carrying on, without a license, of any maternity hospital, lying-in asylum, or other place for the receiving, caring for or treating of females during pregnancy or during or after delivery, and to provide for the licensing and regulation of the same.

The motion prevailed.

Mr. Holmes moved to suspend rule 36, limiting the time within which a motion to reconsider a vote may be made.

The motion prevailed, two-thirds of all the Senators elect voting therefor.

Mr. Holmes then moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate, on April 4, ordered the above named bill to take immediate effect. The motion prevailed.

The question being on the motion that the bill be ordered to take immediate effect.
