A bill to amend sections 3 and 4 of Act 429 of the Local Acts of 1887, entitled "An Act to revise and amend an Act, entitled 'An Act to organize the union school district of Bay City,' approved April 13, 1887," as amended by Act 429 of the Local Acts of 1897, approved May 7, 1897;

Which has passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect been ordered to take immediate effect, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

A bill to disorganize school district No. 9 and fractional school district No. 6, being townships 9 and 10 north of range 3 east in the county of Saginaw, and to organize therefrom School District No. 6, in the Township of Chesaning in said county, and to attach a portion of said territory to school district No. 3 in said Township of Chesaning, and to attach a portion of said territory to school district No. 6 in the Township of St. Charles in said county, and to provide for the sale of school property of fractional School District No. 6 in said township and to provide for the disposition of the proceeds thereof;

Which has passed the House by a majority vote of all the members elect, and by a vote of two-thirds of all the members elect been ordered

to take effect June 1, 1901, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.

By striking out of line 2 of section 1 the words "or knowingly;" In the passage of which, as thus amended, the House has concurred by a majority vote of all the members elect.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the President.

Religious exercises were conducted by Rev. R. C. Dodds of Lansing. The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.

The following Senators were absent with leave: Messrs. Fuller, Murfin, Nichols-3.

The following Senators were absent without leave: Messrs. Bangham, Loeser-2.

Mr. Sovereign moved that leave of absence be granted to the absentees from today's session.

The motion prevailed.

Mr. High asked and obtained indefinite leave of absence for Senator Loeser on account of sickness.

MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Moore moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate, yesterday, adopted the following resolution:

Whereas, The Senate on April 17, requested of the Attorney General a legal opinion on the general tax statements now being used in this State, and such opinion has not yet been furnished the Senate; therefore

Resolved, That the Attorney General be requested to furnish said opinion to the Senate within forty-eight hours.

The motion prevailed.

The question being on the adoption of the resolution,

Mr. Moore moved that the resolution be laid on the table.

Mr. Charles Smith moved to take from the table
Senate bill No. 159 (file No. 150), entitled

A bill to authorize the Commissioner of the State Land Office to cause a survey of the islands in the lake situated in section 16, township 58 north, range 37 west, to be made, and to provide for the payment of the necessary expenses incurred thereby.

The motion prevailed.

Mr. Charles Smith then moved that the bill be placed on the order of Third Reading of Bills.

A bill to amend section 24 of Act No. 205 of the Public Acts of 1887, entitled “An Act to revise the laws authorizing the business of banking, and to establish a banking department for the supervision of such business," being compiler's section 3208c3 of Howell's Annotated Statutes, being section 6113 of the Compiled Laws of 1897;

Respectfully report that they have had the same under consideration, and have directed me to report the same back to the Senate without amendment and recommend that it do pass, and ask to be discharged from the further consideration of the subject.
