This Committee Print is a compilation of the documents pertaining to the legislative history of Public Law 101-336, the Americans With Disabilities Act. This major piece of civil rights legislation, passed overwhelmingly by the Congress, is designed finally to extend full rights to a significant segment of our population who have been denied equal access for too long. It is good for persons with disabilities and good for America.
In order to facilitate implementation of the Act, and an understanding of its many provisions and their interaction, the Committee on Education and Labor has compiled these documents. It is our hope that by distributing the reports and legislative history which accompanied this landmark legislation, we will be providing a service to all Americans.
