Mr. James moved to amend the title so as to read as follows:

A bill to compel owners of private cemeteries in cities to keep the same enclosed with a suitable fence to prevent encroachment of live stock.

The motion prevailed, and the title of the bill was so amended.
The title of the bill as amended, was then agreed to.

Was read a third time and passed, a majority of the Senators-elect voting therefor, by yeas and nays, as follows:

Mr. Foster moved to take from the table

Senate bill No. 309 (file No. 284), entitled

A bill to provide for the manner of posting official notices in townships, and for the erection and maintaining by townships of bill boards to be used for the posting thereon of such notices.

The bill having been read a third time and the question being on its

passage,

Mr. Foster moved to amend the bill as follows:

1. By inserting in line 2 of section 1, after the first word "posted" the words "by township officers."

2. By adding at the end of line 3 of section 1 the following words: "Upon which bill boards all other legal notices may also be posted.". The question being on receiving the amendments

The amendments were received, a majority of the Senators-elect voting therefor.

The amendments were then adopted.

Frank H. Jones of Wayne, county of Wayne, as a member of the Board of Jury Commissioners for Wayne county, for the term ending February 28, 1917; and

Jacob B. Greenberg of Detroit, county of Wayne, as a member of the Board of Jury Commissioners for Wayne county, for the term ending February 28, 1917:

Sent to the Senate by the Governor, had been confirmed by the Senate in executive session.

Mr. Mapes moved that the Senate adjourn.

The motion prevailed, the time being 10:50 o'clock p. m.

The President declared the Senate adjourned until tomorrow at 10 o'clock a. m.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by the President.

Religious exercises were conducted by Rev. Jonathan A. Sprague.
The roll of the Senate was called by the Secretary.
The following Senators were present:

The following Senator was absent with leave: Mr. Rosenkrans-1. The following Senators were absent without leave: Messrs. Moriarty, F. D. Scott, Snell and Vanderwerp 4.

Mr. Weter moved that the absentees without leave be excused from today's session.

The motion prevailed.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE SECRETARY.

The Secretary announced that the following bills had been printed and that they were presented to the Governor for approval April 11: Senate bill No. 270 (file No. 252, enrolled No. 29);

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS.

Petition No. 598. By Mr. Leidlein: Petition of Lewis Barnard and 53 other citizens of Saginaw, in favor of the passage of the James bill creating the office of State fire marshal.

The petition was referred to the Committee on State Affairs.

Petition No. 599. By Mr. Taylor: Petition of B. M. Platt and 39 other citizens of Kalamazoo county, urging a larger appropriation for the work of the Michigan Fish Commission.

The petition was referred to the Committee on Fisheries.
