To the Honorable House of Representatives:

Frankfort, March 17, 1891.

The following is a copy of the resolutions adopted by the meeting of the Benzie County Teachers' Association, March 18, 1891 in regard to the bill brought before our State Legislature to change the present system of supervision of schools:

WHEREAS, It has come to the knowledge of the members of this association that a bill has been introduced into the State Legislature to abolish our present system of supervision of schools; be it therefore

Resolved, That it is the sense of the teachers of Benzie county that any action tending towards the abolition of our present system of examination and supervision and substituting therefor the old township system would be detrimental to the schools of our commonwealth,

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be published in our county paper, and that a copy be sent to our Representative in the Legislature. ETTA SMITH, Secretary of B. C. T. A.

The petition was read at length and spread at large on the Journal as follows:

To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of Michigan: GREETING-We, the undersigned, taxpayers of the State of Michigan, believing that the pledges made to our fellow citizens that enlisted in the late war to defend our country, do most respectfully petition your honorable body for the passage of House bill No. 192, which authorizes the payment of State bounties to soldiers mustered from this State into the service of the United States during the years 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864 and 1865, and to provide for the issuing of bonds for the raising of money therefor. And your petitioners will ever pray.
