SIR: I have the honor to submit, in accordance with a provision in the legislative, executive, and judicial appropriation act approved May 22, 1908, the accompanying statement, showing in detail what officers or employees of the branches of the government service under the direction of the Smithsonian Institution have traveled on official business from Washington to points outside of the District of Columbia during the fiscal year ended June 30, 1909.

SIR: I have the honor to forward herewith for transmission to Congress, a supplemental estimate of an appropriation of $65,000 required by the War Department for the service of the fiscal year ending June 30, 1911, for the construction of a pipe line from the springs in the northern part of the military reservation of Fort Bayard, N. Mex., to the post, increasing the water supply available for use of the hospital, etc.
