PREFACE.

THESE few "Sermonettes" do not aim at any pretence of excellence of style, but merely are an effort to place the great truths of religion in as simple and interesting a form as can be for quite young boys. The preparatory school is the nursery of the larger schoolroom, and its children must be fed with "milk." So long as the "milk” is wholesome, and the best of its kind, it sustains and nourishes. If these few feeble words have raised, or will raise any effort after a godly life in the hearts of boys, they will most fully have served their purpose.

I have to acknowledge help to Canon Farrar's "School Sermons," and also to the Rev. C. Darnell, Cargilfield, Edinburgh, for a text on the subject of "The Trinity."
