GRANT, we beseech Thee, Almighty God that we who for our sinful excesses are in continual trouble, may mercifully be delivered by the Passion of Thy Only-begotten Son. Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. R. Amen.

On the three following days, the Our Father, Hail, Mary, and the I believe in the beginning of Prime, being said secretly, all else being omitted, the Office shall at once be begun with the Antiphon of the Psalms.

At the end of the Psalms Glory be to the Father, shall not be said at any of the Hours.

MAUNDY THURSDAY.

At the Hours, Prime, Terce, Sext, and None, Our Father, Hail, Mary, and I believe, at Prime, being said secretly, the Office shall be begun at the accustomed Psalms, which at Prime shall be as on Feasts: at the end of which, shall be said, all kneeling, V. Christ was made obedient unto death for us. On the second day shall be added, Even the death of the cross. On the third day shall be added, Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every Name. Then shall be said in secret, Our Father. After which, in a somewhat higher voice,

mily, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross.

Then shall be said in silence, Who now liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.

The Collect ended there shall be a little pause, then a stir shall be made, and all rise and depart in silence. On these three days the Martyrology shall not be read, nor shall there be said, Right dear.

At Compline there shall not be said, Pray, sir, nor the Short Lesson, nor Our help, nor the Lord's Prayer, but Confession and Absolution shall be said, and then the Psalm Cum invocarem shall be begun.

After the Psalms shall be said, Nunc dimittis. Then . Christ was made,

with the rest as above.

So shall end all the Hours on these

three days until after Vespers of Holy Saturday.

Holy Saturday.

At Compline. ỹ. Pray, sir.

THE SHORT LESSON. Brethren, be sober. . Our help. Our Father. And Confession and Absolution having been made shall be said, . Turn us then, O God. . O God, make speed. Glory be to the Father, And no more shall be said, Praise be to Thee, O Lord, King of Eternal Glory, but in its place shall be said, Alleluia.

Then without Antiphon shall be said the accustomed Psalms.

The Hymn, Chapter, and Short R., shall not be said.

At Nunc Dimittis the ANT. In the end of the Sabbath,* as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre. Alleluia. . The Lord be with you. Ry. And with thy spirit. The Collect Visit, with the rest as in Psalter, p. 25.

Rejoice evermore, as in Psalter, And there shall be no kneeling during the whole of Easter-tide.

SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION,

COMMONLY CALLED

Easter Day.

At Prime, Terce, Sext, and None, after O God, make speed, and Glory be to the Father, there shall be said the accustomed Psalms: at Prime, as on Feasts, that is, Deus in Nomine, p. 1. Beati immaculati, p. 2, and Retribue, p. 3, which being ended shall be said, ANT. This is the day which the Lord hath made we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Afterwards the Collect, which at Prime shall be said, as in Psalter, O Lord, our Heavenly Father, p. 5; Right dear, with the rest, and the Short Lesson at the conclusion of the Chapter, If ye then be risen, as in Psalter, p. 6. But at all the other Hours, after the ANT. This is the day, shall be said,

ALMIGHTY God, Who through Thine Only-begotten Son Jesus Christ hast overcome death, and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life: we humbly beseech Thee, that, as by Thy special grace preventing us Thou dost put into our minds good desires, so by Thy continual help we may bring the same to good effect. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Ry. Amen.

lemnity hast brought about the restoration of the world: assist Thy people, we beseech Thee, with Thy heavenly gift; that they may both be enabled to attain to perfect freedom, life. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. and also advance towards everlasting R. Amen.

GOD, Who makest us glad with

the yearly Festival of the Resurrection of the Lord: mercifully grant; that we, who celebrate these festivals upon earth, may come at last to eternal joys in heaven. Through the same Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

GOD, Who hast united divers na

tions in the one confession of Thy Name: grant unto them that are born again in the Baptismal Font, to have one faith in their minds, and holiness in their actions. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ry. Amen.

Friday.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, Who hast granted that the Paschal Mystery should signify the Covenant of man's reconciliation : grant unto our souls, that we may show forth in our lives that which we celebrate with our lips. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ry. Amen.

Saturday.

GRANT, we beseech Thee, Almighty

And so shall all the Hymns be ended until the Ascension.

And at the end of the ANT. Save us, shall be added, Alleluia.

So shall Compline be said until Trinity Sunday exclusively: and when there shall not be a Double, nor within an Octave, the Prayers shall be said as in Psalter, p. 24. To the Short RyRy. and . throughout all the Hours, shall be added, Alleluia, until the Saturday before Trinity Sunday; except in the . in the Prayers at Prime and Compline, when they shall be said. And whenever Alleluia shall be added to the Short R., it shall be doubled; but in Versicles it shall be said singly.

Compline shall be said as in Psalter,
p. 22, omitting the prayers: and in
the place of the ANT. Have mercy,
shall be said, ANT. Alleluia, Alleluia,
Alleluia. The ending of the Hymn
shall be,

All glory, Lord, Thy people give;
All glory, as is ever meet,

To Father and to Paraclete. Amen.
