TO THE

THIRD EDITION.

SINCE the appearance of the last edition of this Treatise, the Author has employed much of his time in endeavouring to render it more complete; and he hopes the alterations and additions he has made, after a most careful and attentive review, will be considered as in some measure contributing to its improvement. The determinations both at Law and in Equity, as well as in Bankruptcy, have been brought down to the present period, and an Appendix has been subjoined, in which is contained a series of Precedents, for the excellence of which the Author can vouch, from the acknowledged accuracy and long professional habits of the gentlemen by whom they were drawn. The report of the case of Natusch v. Irving, with the remarks of Lord Chancellor Eldon upon it, not appearing elsewhere in print, is also preserved in the Appendix, under a conviction that the deliberate opinion of such an enlightened judge, on a case so important, and so closely and intimately connected with Partnership Law, must form an invaluable appendage to a Treatise of this nature.
