N the History of the Works of the Learned, for January this Year, I printed an anonymous Letter, con. taining Corrections of some supposed
Errors in a late Edition of Gorboduc. I was then utterly unacquainted with my Correspondent ; but in a later Epistle he has been pleased to inform me of his Name and Character, and I can now tell the Public, that we are indebted for those, as well as the following Remarks, to the Reverend Mr. Calion, of Marion, near Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. There is a Circumstance, of which it is neceffary I should take notice, in order to the Reader's understanding the Introduction of the ensuing Animadversions: And this is, that an Alteration was made in the Beginning of Mr. Calton's first Paper, published in January, before I sent it to the Press.
