equal will never again be found. The preacher also dwelt on the great love his students bore the departed, which was especially shown on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee, yet, he said, midst all that honor and praise, Father Kavanagh was the same modest man he ever was; they have gathere1 here today from far and near, to testify their fidelity and thanks to one who was ever their friend. The orator, by the pathetic manner in which he described Father "P. V." brought tears to many eyes.

Rt. Rev T. M. A. Burke, D. D, Bishop of Albany, gave the last absolution after which the body was, for the last time, viewed by all present. Preceeded by the students, seminarians and priests the casket was carried to the graveyard north of the University bui'd'ngs. Close by the tomb of Father Rice, his body was laid. One by one, his brothers of the Community and the priests present, cast upon his coffin, a shovelful of earth. Old men who had lived and worked, who had shared his joys and sorrows; young men, his students of long ago, all paid him, with sorow, this last duty.

There were present at the funeral services Father Kanigh's immediate relatives of Buffalo, N. Y., his brothers James and Michael; his nieces, the Misses Augusta, Mary, Alice, Kathrine, Elizabeth and Mrs. T. J. Kavanagh; his cousin, Hon. E. S. Cummings, of Chicago. They all sincerely mourn the loss of one whose pleasant visits will be sorely missed. Delegations of the Sisters of Charity, two from each of the four houses, and representatives of the Sisters of St. Joseph from Niagara Falls, were among the mourners. A large number of friends from Niagara Falls and Buffalo were also present.

In compliance with his earnest w sh, the body of Father Kavanaugh was buried at his beloved home; he now sleeps on the banks of the Niagara, in our quiet graveyard, lulled to rest by the gentle rippling of the rapids beneath. Surely there is no more beautiful spot in all creation than this, and a worthy resting place for dear Father Kavanagh who is now a silent spectator where once he was so active. The fearful storms may burst in fury o'er his grave but he will not awake; winter may cl the it in cold, dreary white, but he will not preceive; Niagara's glorious sun-ets will cast their beauties and the evergreens their cooling shade o'er him, but to all this he he says: "I am at rest." Surely, dear Father, you, above all, deserve the rest, the peaceful, never-ending rest. Requescas in pace.

Of those who attended the funeral we are enabled to inscribe the following:

Rt. Rev. T. M. A. Burke, D.D., Bishop of Albany. Very Rev. J. J. Sullivan, C.M. Rev. F. W. Krebs, O.C.C.

While the gas was burning bright;
Suddenly there came a message-
"Curfew rings at nine tonight."
At the sound his eyes flashed keenly,
And he raised his frame in might,
As he answered, quite unseemly,
It don't ring for me tonight."
