REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS

AND PROPERTY

NICHOLAS BARDASH, Superintendent

The Superintendent of Public Buildings and Property is elected by a Board, consisting of the Governor, Secretary of State, and Auditor of State, for a term terminating with the option of the Board, and qualifies by taking the usual official oath and on executing bond for $10,000.00.

DUTIES

He shall have charge of and protect the capitol building and grounds · and all furniture and other property connected therewith, preserving the same from injury; keep such buildings and property clean and in proper order, and at all suitable hours attend visitors who may wish to view the capitol. He shall purchase needed supplies and cause such repairs to be made to the capitol as shall be determined necessary. He shall employ

all assistants and necessary help who come under his supervision. It is his duty to institute proper civil or criminal proceedings against any person for injury, or threatened injury, to property under his care. He shall keep a complete list of all property of the State at the seat of the government, with accurate plans and surveys of the public grounds whereon the capitol is situated and report to the Board of such property on the last days of March, June and September of each year, and report to the General Assembly each two years and show the manner of his expenditures of the appropriations made to his office. He shall dispose of worn-out and unvaluable property, such as furniture, waste paper, books, etc., and make proper accounting to the State Treasurer quarterly.

All of his official acts are done only with the approval of the Board of Public Buildings and Property.
