1 HARK! the herald angels sing

Glory to the new-born King,
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled.
Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies ;
With the angelic host proclaim,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the new-born King.

2 Christ, by highest heaven adored,

Christ, the everlasting Lord,
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see ;
Hail, th’ Incarnate Deity !
Pleased, as Man, with man to dwell,
Jesus, our Immanuel.

Hark! &c.

3 Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace !

Hail, the Sun of righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die ;
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! &c.

3 “ To

WHILE shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,
The Angel of the Lord came down,

And glory shone around.
2 “Fear not,” said he, (for mighty dread

Had seized their troubled mind,) “Glad tidings of great joy I bring you

and all mankind.
you, in David's town, this day
Is born of David's line,
The Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord ;-

And this shall be the sign :
4 “The heavenly Babe you there shall find

To human view displayed,
All meanly wrapped in swathing-bands,

And in a manger laid.”
5 Thus spake the Seraph; and forthwith

Appeared a shining throng
Of Angels, praising God, and thus

Addressed their joyful song :

6 “All glory be to God on high,

And to the earth be peace ;
Good-will, henceforth, from heaven to men,
Begin, and never cease!” Amen.

Adeste, fideles.
O COME, all ye faithful,

Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem;

See in a manger
The Monarch of Angels :
O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

God of God,

Light of Light,
Lo, He abhors not the Virgin's womb;

Very God,
Begotten, not created :

O come, let us adore Him, &c. 3 Sing, choirs of Angels,

Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above,

Glory to God
In the highest :

O come, let us adore Him, &c. 4 Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,

Born this happy morning ;
Jesu, to Thee be glory given;

Word of the Father,
Late in Flesh appearing :
O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Hallelujah!

Corde natus ex Parentis.
OF the Father's Love begotten

Ere the worlds began to be,
He is Alpha and Omega,

He the source, the ending He,
Of the things that are, that have been,
And that future years shall see,

Yea, for ever, evermore.
This is He whom seers in old time

Chanted of with one accord;
Whom the voices of the Prophets

Promised in their faithful word:
Now He shines, the long-expected,
Let creation praise its Lord ;

Yea, for ever, evermore. 3 O that Birth for ever blessèd !

When the Virgin, full of grace,
By the Holy Ghost conceiving,

Bare the Saviour of our race ;
And the Babe, the world's Redeemer,
First revealed His sacred Face,

Yea, for ever, evermore. 4 O ye heights of heaven, adore Him:

Angel-hosts, His praises sing :
All dominions, bow before Him,

And extol our God and King ;
Let no tongue on earth be silent,
Every voice in concert ring,
Yea, for ever, evermore !

5 Christ, to Thee, with God the Father,

And, O Holy Ghost, to Thee,
Hymn, and chant, and high thanksgiving,

And unwearied praises be,
Honour, glory, and dominion,
And eternal victory,

Yea, for ever, evermore! Amen.

BRIGHT and joyful is the morn,
For to us a Child is born ;
From the highest realms of heaven
Unto us a Son is given.

2

On His shoulder He shall bear
Power and majesty, and wear
On His vesture and His thigh,
Names most awful, names most high.

3 Wonderful in counsel He,

The Incarnate Deity ;
Sire of ages ne'er to cease,
King of kings, and Prince of Peace.

4. Come and worship at His feet,

Yield to Christ the homage meet,
From His manger to His throne ;-
Homage due to God alone. Amen.
