SUNDAY MORNING.

ALMIGHTY GOD! Thou art the Author of our existence; and we bless thee, that thou hast made us capable of soaring, above the views and pursuits of a merely temporary being, into the regions of thy glory; of contemplating the beauty, order, and magnificence of thy works, and of attuning our voices to thy praise.

All that we have is thine. Through thy guardian care we continue unto this day; and we would now, with renewed and holy thankfulness, adore thee for the friends whom thou hast

raised up to cheer us, in this house of our pilgrimage; for the help which thou hast afforded us in the time of need; for the difficulties which thou hast taught us to surmount; for the afflictions which thou hast enabled us to bear, and for all the means by which our lives are supported and rendered happy.

Accept our devout acknowledgements, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth! that we have in our hands the scriptures of everlasting truth; in which we can trace, with wonder and delight, the special communications of thy will. Above all, we magnify thy name, that thou hast sent Jesus Christ, thy Son, to make known the purposes of thine infinite wisdom, and to confirm to us the joyful hope of immortality. We hail him, as thy

messenger of reconciliation to a world lying in wickedness: and for this we would more particularly thank thee, that his doctrines are adapted to our feelings and wants as well as to our understandings; and that his promises, so great and precious, stand upon an immoveable foundation. With grateful pleasure, we reflect on the dignity to which thou hast exalted him, as the reward of his obedience; and we rejoice that thou hast appointed a day in which he will come again, with majesty and power, to cleave the tombs, to awake the dead, to judge the world, and to complete the salvation of his saints.

Assist us, this day, seriously to reflect that all our interests are not confined to the present world. May we enter thy public courts, under a

due sense of our unworthiness, and with a sincere desire to offer unto thee, the Father of mercies, the cheerful homage of our hearts.

Hasten, we beseech thee, the arrival of that happy period, when the light of the gospel, in its native beauty and in all its power, shall visit every family of the earth.

May we so attend upon the duties and ordinances of thy house below, as to be prepared by them for the sublimer exercises and enjoyments of thy heavenly temple.

Hear us, gracious Father! in these our praises and requests. May thy mercy pardon our sins, and thy strength help our infirmities.

We ask it through Jesus Christ.

Amen.

SUNDAY EVENING.

GREAT and ever blessed God! We would draw near unto thee, this evening, under the liveliest sense of thine undeserved mercy towards us, to adore thee, the Father of all the families of the earth, to renew the confession of our guilt and weakness, to plead for pardon at thy footstool, and to pray that we may be received by thee to favour here, and to eternal happiness hereafter.

Thou art encircled with infinite glory and perfection, with unbounded everlasting goodness; and from thee,
