Dear Senator Kennedy:

On behalf of the American Medical Association, I would like to submit for your consideration our comments on S. 2893, the "National Cancer Act Amendments of 1974."

The bill before your Committee would amend and
extend, for three years, the programs of the National
Cancer Institute, and would provide increased funding
to carry forth those activities now under way.

As you will recall, the AMA enthusiastically en-
dorsed an increased national effort to seek cures for
cancer and methods of preventing these diseases when

in 1971 to offer our support of the National Cancer Act
