Mr. Barnard moved to take from the table the nomination of Thaddeus C. Brooks, of Jackson, Jackson county, sent to the Senate by the Governor on April 28, as a member of the Board of Control of the Michigan State Prison for the term of six years from and after February 15, 1897, Which motion prevailed.

The Senate then did not advise and consent to the nomination of Mr. Brooks, a majority of the Senators present not voting therefor, by yeas and nays, as follows:

The Committee on Executive Business, to whom was referred the message of the Governor nominating for State Court of Mediation and Arbitration, Carl E. Schmidt, of Detroit, for one year; Thomas Roberts, of Negaunee, for two years, and Jerome W. Robbins, of Pontiac, for three years, respectfully report they have had the same under consideration and have directed me to report the same back to the Senate and recommend that the Senate advise and consent to said nomination to office, and ask to be discharged from further consideration of the subject.
