In pursuance of the provisions of the Constitution and Laws of the State of Vermont, the members of the House of Representatives convened in the State House, in Montpelier, on the first Wednesday, being the fifth day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight. At ten o'clock in the forenoon, Hon. Chauncey W. Brownell, Secretary of State, called the House to order, when devotional exercises were conducted by Rev. Dr. M. H. Buckham, of Burlington. The names of the members who had presented their credentials were called, whereupon it appeared that the following named members were present, and took their seats, to wit: |
