The Lord delivereth the souls of his servants; and all they that put their trust in him shall not be destitute.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Collect.

For grace to resist temptation, and to obey God.

LORD, we beseech thee, grant thy people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil; and with pure hearts and minds to follow thee, the only God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Simon and St. Jude.

October 28.

Collect.

T For unity of spirit, and acceptance with God.

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast built thy church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the head corner-stone; grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their doctrine, that we may be made an holy temple acceptable unto thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Nineteenth Sunday after Trinity.

Anthem.

T Confidence in God.

UNTO thee, O Lord, will I lift up my soul; my

God, I have put my trust in thee: O let me not be confounded, neither let mine enemies triumph over

me.

For all they that hope in thee shall not be ashamed; but such as transgress without a cause, shall be put to confusion.

Show me thy ways, O Lord, and teach me thy paths.

Lead me forth in thy truth, and learn me; for thou art the God of my salvation; in thee hath been my hope all the day long.

Call to remembrance, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy loving-kindnesses, which have been ever of old.

O remember not the sins and offences of my youth; but according to thy mercy think thou upon me, O Lord, for thy goodness.

Gracious and righteous is the Lord; therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

Them that are meek shall he guide in judgment; and such as are gentle, them shall he learn his way. Glory be to the Father, &c.

Collect.

¶ For directing and ruling grace.

O GOD, forasmuch as without thee we are not able to please thee; mercifully grant that thy Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

All Saints' Day.

November 1.

Collect.

For grace to follow godly example, and for admission to the joys of heaven.

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship, in the mystical body of thy Son Christ our Lord; grant us grace so to follow thy blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those unspeakable joys, which thou hast prepared for those who unfeignedly love thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Twentieth Sunday after Trinity.

Anthem.

Obedience to the law of God.

THOU art my portion, O Lord; I have promised to keep thy law.

I made my humble petition in thy presence with my whole heart; O be merciful unto me, according to thy word.

I called mine own ways to remembrance, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

I made haste, and prolonged not the time, to keep thy commandments.

The congregations of the ungodly have robbed me; but I have not forgotten thy law.

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee; because of thy righteous judgments.

I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and keep thy commandments.

The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy; O teach me thy statutes.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Collect.

For ready and cheerful obedience.

O ALMIGHTY and most merciful God, of thy bountiful goodness keep us, we beseech thee, from all things that may hurt us; that we, being ready both in body and soul, may cheerfully accomplish those things which thou commandest, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Twenty-first Sunday after Trinity.

Anthem.

Prayer for pardon and spiritual joy.

HAVE mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness; according to the multitude of thy mercies do away mine offences.

Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my faults, and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight, that thou mightest be justified in thy saying, and clear when thou art judged.

Turn thy face from my sins, and put out all my misdeeds.

Make me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

O give me the comfort of thy help again, and stablish me with thy free Spirit. Glory be to the Father, &c.

Collect.

¶ For pardon and peace.

GRANT, we beseech thee, merciful Lord, to thy faithful people, pardon and peace; that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve thee with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Twenty-second Sunday after Trinity.

Anthem.

The Lord the light and defence of the godly.

BLESSED is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are thy ways.

Who, going through the vale of misery, use it for a well; and the pools are filled with water.

They will go from strength to strength, and unto the God of gods appeareth every one of them in Zion.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer, hearken, O God of Jacob:

Behold, O God, our defender, and look upon the face of thine Anointed.
