O age so young that death will spare;
All ages they must die;

Therefore to die let all prepare
To live eternally.

REPARE to meet thy God!

PRE

VOICE comes wafted through the wilderness!
Prepare the way, and be the desert smooth;

Arise ye valleys! and ye mountains sink
Before Him! for the Lord Jehovah comes.

R. MONTGOMERY.

AKE ye heed, watch and pray.

MARK Xiii. 33.

N steadfast hope of that glad day,
Here lies entombed my weary clay;

Reader, awake! in time repent;
Thine hours, as mine, are only lent.

EFORM thy conduct, mourn thy follies past,

And spend each day preparing for thy last.

SUPPLICATORY.

WIFT to its close ebbs out life's little day; Earth's joys grow dim, its glories fade away; Change and decay in all around I see,

Oh! Thou who changest not, abide with me!

ESUS, my life, thyself apply,
Thine hallowing Spirit breathe;
My vile affections crucify;

Conform me to thy death.

HOU art all mercy-from thy mercy's throne Make me, in number, one amongst thine own.

STRIVE to rise-sin keeps me down;
I fly from sin-sin follows me;
My will doth reach at glory's crown—
Weak is my strength, it will not be.
See, how my fainting soul doth pant!
Oh let thy strength supply my want.

H that each, in the day of his coming, may say,

"I have fought my way through;

I have finished the work thou did'st give me to do!" Oh that each from his Lord may receive the glad word,

"Well and faithfully done!

Enter into my joy, and sit down on my throne!"

A

S waters haste unto their sea,

And earth unto its earth,

So let

my soul return to thee, From whom it had its birth.

J. MASON.

THER refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me.

G

ENTLY the passing spirit fled,
Sustained by grace divine;

Oh! may each grace on me be shed,
And make my end like thine.

O the dust returns this earthly frame;

Receive my spirit, Lord, from whom it came.

J. MONTGOMERY.

N Christ, the anchor of my soul,
Oh! may I ever rest;

Oh! may my soul to him ascend,

And be for ever blest.

HEN ends life's transient dream,
When death's cold sullen stream
Shall o'er me roll;

Dear Saviour, then, in love,

Fear and distrust remove;

Oh! bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

J

N the fair book of life divine,
O Lord, inscribe my name.

ORD, I am nothing in myself alone;

In all my weakness let thy strength be shown;

In all my poverty thy riches give;

Dead in myself, may I through Jesus live.

M

AY we, with those in bliss, O Lord,

For ever numbered be;

Taught by thy Spirit and thy word

To live alone to thee.

INCE we cannot tell to-day
What to-morrow's dawn may bring,
Saviour, draw our hearts away,

Far from every earthly thing;
Make us in thy service steady;
Always for thy coming ready.

H Lord! into thy hands I commend my spirit.

ESUS, Heavenly Shepherd, lead us
To thy home of peace and love;
And from this sinful region guide us,
To a brighter world above.

LONE with Jesus! Saviour, even so;

When my last hour shall come, be near to me; When heart and flesh shall fail, O let me lean Only on Thee!

ESUS still lead on,

Till our rest is won;

And, although the way be cheerless,

We will follow, calm and fearless;

Guide us by thy hand,

To our fatherland.
